Pepper Johnson Named Defensive Coordinator For XFL Los Angeles

XFL Los Angeles Head Coach/GM Winston Moss is building up his staff this week, adding former linebackers coach for the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) Pepper Johnson. This is Moss’s first major hire to his staff.

Johnson is best known for playing Linebacker for the New York Giants under Head Coach Bill Parcells and then Deffeeive Coordinator Bill Belichick in the ’80s. They won both Super Bowl l XXI and Super Bowl XXV.

After later playing for the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions and New York Jets. He started his coaching career under Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. He spent 14 seasons with the Patriots, winning three Super Bowls. He later was defensive line coach for the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.
