QB Josh Johnson Turns Down Ravens Deal, Could He Be XFL Bound

The Baltimore Ravens (NFL) are in the market for a backup QB. Robert Griffin III suffered a hairline fracture in his right thumb and is expected to miss 4 to 8 weeks. He could return by September for the start of the season. But Josh Johnson who is 32-years-old turned down a Ravens contract offer because he “didn’t feel it was the right opportunity. ” This was after working out for the team this week.

What Is He Thinking!@

It seems a bit odd to turn down any NFL QB opportunity, given the fact that there are backup QB battles going on for several NFL teams. Most teams already have their second and third-string QBs in place. With the Ravens, there is a good possibility, with Lamar Jackson being a running Quarterback and RGIII‘s injury history that he could see the field in the 2019 season. It seems like the perfect opportunity.

Maybe the idea of potentially being cut in September and waiting by the phone for an injury and not being paid is not a good opportunity in Johnson’s mind.

XFL Could Be A Better Opportunity

The idea of signing with the XFL for potentially $250,000 in guaranteed money and a shot at starting could be the perfect opportunity. Rather than hoping two players get injured and then getting a shot at playing time. He could play one year in the XFL, make a name for himself and sign for bigger NFL money next year with a better shot at playing.

This is all hypothetical, we have no idea what is going through Josh Johnson’s mind or other situations he may be waiting on. But the idea that there can be an option B with the XFL has to be a factor in players minds. Players who are in their early 30’s and not signed to an NFL team right now, the XFL is an option.

Josh Johnson could join other potential XFL Quarterbacks in Landry Jones and Ryan Mallet. Would Josh Johnson be a good fit on a team like XFL DC with coach Pep Hamilton? Let us know what you think.

I all for him coming to XFL.. but don’t forget he left the AAF at the last minute and left the fleet hanging.. personally I would diffentley give him an opportunity but at this point I wouldn’t count on him .. imo
