John Manziel Open To Playing In The XFL IN 2020

Former NFL, The Spring League, CFL, and AAF quarterback John aka Johnny Manziel was last seen playing for the Alliance of American Football‘s Memphis Express until that league folded three weeks ago.

Manziel is running out of leagues to play professional football in. Currently, with the NFL draft around the corner, no NFL teams have shown any public interest in the former first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns. Going back the CFL which effectively banned is also not an option.

That leaves the XFL, and Manziel is open to playing in Vince McMahon’s rebooted league in 2020:

“Any football,” Manziel told TMZ Sports. “Any football options.”

The 26-year-old former Heisman Trophy winner wants to play again:

“That’s all it is man,” Manziel said when asked if he wants to play football. “Ball 24/7.”

XFL Commissioner and CEO Oliver Luck has recently stated that he would be welcomed to play in the XFL if the coaches thought he was ready.

Manziel, who played his collegiate ball at Texas A&M University, was initially selected by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Again, he is only 26 years old.

John played five games and made two starts during his rookie season. Completing 18 of 35 passes for 175 yards and a bunch of interceptions.

The following year, the Texas native appearing in 10 games, starting six of them. Manziel threw for 1,500 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions. With a completing percent of 57.8 and a 79.4 passer rating.

He was eventually waived by the Cleveland Browns in March 2016 and has not played in the NFL since.
