REPORT: XFL Was Looking At Potentially Relocating Three XFL Teams

According to Chuck Miketinac of the FOX affiliate in San Antonio. The XFL was calling several cities to gauge potential interest in a relocated an XFL team to their town.

One of those locations was San Antonio Texas, the former home of the AAF‘s San Antonio Commanders.

“Two sources told us San Antonio had exploratory conversations with the XFL about the league possibly moving one of its existing teams to the Alamo City.”

It was not just one XFL team looking to relocate. It was potentially three of its eight teams.

No word on which three XFL teams would have been on the move. Based on attendance numbers, the teams would have been Los Angeles Wildcats, Tampa Bay Vipers and New York Guardians. All three teams averaged roughly 12,000 fans per home game. That was the lowest in the league.

    San Antonio would of had a XFL Team if the AAF hadn’t come the year before

    How can the XFL relocate teams after they filed for bankruptcy?

    Hopefully the NFL steps in and helps keep the league alive. This seasons numbers and proven rule changes the fans like, it could go a long way to support a development league for the NFL.
