Why Are You Excited for the XFL?

So one question that I get asked a lot is, “Why are you so excited for the XFL?” and of course, “You actually think the XFL is gonna work this time?”

My answer to the second question is the fact that this is not 2001 and Vince McMahon learned that his “scripted football” didn’t work and people weren’t interested in it. Unfortunately, too many people have that 2001 season fresh (or revived) in their minds and can’t get past that utterly successful failure. So they don’t think this version of the XFL will work without even doing their research on the revived version to see how different this version is.

The first question is a little more complex. It deals a lot with the current status of the NFL. You see blatant calls or of course no calls (i.e. NFC Championship Game).

Also the blatant favoritism of big-name players. I’ve seen countless plays where the receiver misses the pass and then throws his hands up (regardless if it’s a pass interference) and the ref will throw the flag well after the play just because of who the receiver is.

Where some receivers who aren’t as big don’t get the same exact call! Then we get the so-called “Roughing the Passer” calls that are completely ridiculous!

I remember one Thursday Night (or Sunday, I don’t rightly recall) and it was the Colts vs. the Patriots. During the game you see Tom Brady get barely swiped on his helmet and they throw a flag. Now later in this same game, Andrew Luck takes a “Body Slam” by 2 or 3 Patriots while they threw their body weight into it and NO FLAG! What in the… Seriously, how was that not a penalty?

Or just pathetic calls, or no calls, that after you see it, you just have to scratch your head and say, “What the…”

It really should’ve been a Saints vs Chiefs Super Bowl last year and calls like that in a Conference Championship game is just ridiculous. Just saying!

The refs are starting to ruin the fun of watching a football game, for me! They can dictate how the game goes and keep a team from winning if they see to it.

I’m not saying I’m a conspiracy theorist but there are quite a few plays that seem like that’s what they are doing. When a game is driven by which team is playing and you see the lack of calls or no calls during such games, it gets old!

When a defender needs to put a pillow under the QB’s helmet while he’s sacking him if he doesn’t want to get a “Roughing the Passer” flag (which it’s rare you see a sack without a flag, I know there are some but it is kinda rare these days) it’s like you cringe as the QB is going down. You just expect seeing yellow penalty flag flying.

Over the past few years, there have been more penalties called than any other time I can recall watching the NFL. Now let’s add the whole National Anthem Protest on top of all this (I’ll go more into this in a later article) and to me, the whole politics in football takes the fun out of watching a football game.

Can’t forget about the overtime, yeah, they changed it a few years back to make it, quote-unquote “Fair” which was somewhat an improvement but at the same time, the other team should get one chance to match the touchdown! I’ve seen too many games come down to that and it’s just not a well thought out rule, of course, that’s once again my thoughts and feelings.

It’s a real shame that all this is going on in the NFL because so many people love the game of football and have a good time while watching a game. But I’ve read or heard too many comments from a vast majority of fans that are complaining about all the stuff I’m talking about in this article. So it’s apparent that it’s not just me. Others have noticed and are voicing their opinions, which is a good thing so we can make this well known and let the NFL know they we are watching and seeing these issues!

If they are not careful than they will lose a lot of fans and what else are they going to watch? Well, thankfully we now have the XFL to look forward to and I can foresee a lot of fans flocking to a league that lets the players, just play football! I’m not going to go as far and say the XFL will replace the NFL as that seems very far fetched, at this time at least.

So that is why I’m excited for the XFL as you factor all those things in makes anybody feel the same way. Perhaps you don’t look at it that way or just never really thought of this but you can not deny this is all happening and will continue to happen unless things are changed in the NFL. Plus, I’m looking forward to having more football! All we need now is a summer league and we’d have football all year long, and who wouldn’t love that?

Tell us why you are excited for the XFL or what makes you feel like this time the XFL will work? We would love to hear from you, the fans of the XFL. Thanks for reading and let’s go XFL Army!

I was hoping the XFL would just go get a NFL rule book from the 80’s
or 90’s and go with that by bringing back a harder hitting game where a team
had to earn their points vs. the rules today which almost guarantees massive
scoring. However, since this incarnation of the XFL is trying to reimagine the
game like the one in 2001 did, let’s see what they have to offer. Also, a new
league in 2001 wasn’t needed as the NFL was awesome back then. However, the
NFL has gone from awesome to just pretty good so I welcome the competition at this
    point.

It’s a brand new ballgame this time up for the XFL! I’m seeing past mistakes corrected and better people running the show. Kudos Mr.Luck! From prominent coaches to cool team names and logos, the new improved league has a lot going right. Teams uniform rollouts are much anticipated as are the selection of great athletes representing the league and it’s cities!

Yes I am! I already bought my fan gear representing my team. Even though I root for a team in the NFL, I am much more excited about upcoming the XFL season in 2020.

I am in full agreement with this article. Tired of all the politics, teams kneeling, disrespecting our national flag, and too many yellow flags and rules of the NFL.
Very excited for the XFL and go St. Louis Battle Hawks!!
