Renagades beat Dragons 24-12 in Seattle

Dallas Renegades (2-1) vs Seattle Dragons (1-2) @ Century Link Field

XFL Scoring Recap: Dallas @ Seattle

Dallas has moved to 2-1, and seem to be getting in rhythm as a squad. This was a defining win today over a wily Dragons squad that’s better than their 1-2 start might suggest, and their offense looked dangerous with Landry Jones fully up to speed.

Renegades

The Renegades got rolling in Seattle, and found their footing in all phases of the game. Landry Jones and TE Donald Parham were on the same page all day, and they connected for 2 big scores. One of Jones’ two picks was a bad throw, but the other was a tipped ball that he fired in perfectly to Flynn Nagel up the seam.

Cameron Artis-Payne continues to give the offense great balance, but they still weren’t able to utilize Jeff Badet’s crazy speed to take the top off the defense. With their O-Line giving Jones all kinds of time to throw the ball, there’s some serious opportunities they’re missing out on here. The defense was able to limit the Dragons ability to score, and they effectively neutralized the run game all day.

Even special teams had a good day, with K Austin MacGinnis scoring a FG and pinning Seattle at the 15 on back to back plays.

Key Stat 1: 5 Rec, 105 Yards, 2 TD. (Donald Parham-TE)

Key Stat 2: 30-41, 274 Yards, 3 TD, 2 INT (Landry Jones-QB)

Key Stat 3: 2 Tackles, 1 INT, 2 PD (Josh Hawkins-CB)

Losing Team Review

Brandon Silvers was able to move the ball better this week, but they couldn’t strike in big moments, and the run game struggled to get any momentum. Austin Proehl continues to separate himself from the pack as a serious talent at WR, but Seattle’s apparent inability to push the ball deep hurt them here as they allowed Dallas to sit in a zone and make big stops.

Their defense was able to slow Jones early, but once he got in the zone they had trouble. Their pass rush gave him way too much time to throw the ball, and despite another clutch play from Marcel Frazier in a strip sack, they couldn’t shut down the Air Raid or the run. Steven Johnson continues to fly all over the field, but he can’t be everywhere at once.

Key Stat 1: 6 Rec, 81 Yards, 1 TD (Austin Proehl-WR)

Key Stat 2: 14 Tackles, 2 TFL, 1 PD (Steven Johnson-LB)

Key Stat 3: 1 Tackle, 1 TFL, 1 Sack, 1 FF, 1 Fumble Recovery (Marcel Frazier-DE)

Fantasy Review

Donald Parham continues to light it up, with a huge day for fantasy owners. Landry Jones is developing into a solid QB1, and Cameron Artis-Payne is a must-start. The Dallas WR corps is hard to sort out, and it seems like a lot of passes go to TE’s and RB’s, so targets are hard to predict there.

Brandon Silvers had a middling fantasy day, but could be a good option for some teams. The Dragons RB Platoon didn’t get much done, but Austin Proehl has proven himself as a fantastic option.

What the heck Silvers. Couldn’t even hit the easy throws.
