Murray Ruled Out for Saturday, Cornelius Expected to Start

Aaron Murray (left) out Saturday, Taylor Cornelius (right) listed as QB2 for week two

After missing practice on Tuesday and Wednesday with a foot injury, Vipers starting quarterback Aaron Murray has officially been ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Seattle Dragons, according to the league’s injury report page.

The 29-year-old quarterback was injured during last Sunday’s 23-3 loss to the New York Guardians. Murray was wildly inconsistent during his week one performance, posting league-lows in completion percentage (47%) and passer rating (45.1) among starters.

So where does this leave the Vipers QB situation in week two?

To make matters worse for the Vipers, Chase Litton, who is listed as the fourth option on the team’s official week two depth chart (ABOVE) did not participate in practice on Thursday. The reason for Litton’s absence was unspecified. The 24-year-old was inactive for the team’s week one game against New York, not for injury, but as a healthy scratch from the gameday 40-man roster.

That leaves Tampa Bay with two healthy options for Saturday; Taylor Cornelius, the six-foot-six-inch traditional pocket passer, and Quinton Flowers, the 25-year-old dynamic dual-threat.

Per the team, there are no changes to the depth chart ahead of the game. Expectations are that Cornelius, the listed QB2 will get the start in week two.
