Johnny Manziel Spurned by XFL, Says League Won’t Last

The XFL’s first week of play triggered a wave of support from across the country, with celebrities, athletes, and fans turning out in droves. The average game had 17k fans, and stadiums continue to open up new seating for growing demand.

This, however, does not mean the league is without its critics. Johnny Manziel recently tweeted this:

His name was thrown around earlier in the past year, but he was not selected by a team in the XFL Draft, and commish Oliver Luck has stated that the XFL’s quarterbacks are better than Johnny Football.

Manziel had a great run at Texas A&M, passing for 7,820 yards, 63 TD’s and only 22 Int’s with 2169 yards and 30 scores on the ground. However, he struggled to put it together in the pros after being drafted 22nd overall in 2014. While his experience with the Cleveland Browns and Montreal Alouettes gives him upside as a veteran backup, he floundered in the AAF last season, throwing for just 61 yards and a pick in competition with current Dragons starter Brandon Silvers.

A penchant for interceptions and off the field issues have hindered Manziel’s career thus far, and it looks mutual the XFL isn’t his avenue for a return.

You write like a 13 year old for your middle school paper. Manziel has been a mess, and maybe still is, but his QB rating as a Brown was better than Baker’s was for most, if not all of this past season. And Manziel’s AAF stint lasted less than a game and he left with a concussion. He played for the worst team in the NFL and the worst team in the CFL. Neither could block or catch. So interception prone, really, see the Mannings first year stats. The XFL has their reasons for not wanting Manziel. I can’t imagine what they are though. It’s entertainment. PS, I’m not an Aggie. You can tell by the complete sentences.

I promise Manziel is good enough to play in XFL and would produce more fans.no Matter if you love him or hate him.

Johnny seems bitter about the AAF. If there is a spot, he should play in the XFL. Don’t burn your bridges, homeboy.

Thought sure there was another comment earlier. Where could it have gone?

He might as well pick an Indoor football team (Like Southern Steam of Elite Indoor Football) and QB for them. It’s pretty much the only league that will gamble on him and, honestly, I doubt he would go there because he doesn’t want the embarrassment of not being able to succeed there either.

The XFL will last longer than he did.

I really wish Manziel hadn’t done this. This iteration of the XFL looks like it may actually stick around, and if Manziel wanted to prove that he belongs in the NFL, this would have been a mutually advantageous relationship. Especially with Dallas and Houston having a team. But alas…Johnny gonna Johnny.

As horrible as this league is at offense, they should have J Football’s number on speed dial.
