2020 XFL Fan Awards, Best Fans In The XFL

We’re all in limbo, waiting for news to see if our favorite players and coaches will make it back onto the field in 2021. But as Dany & The Rock get the ball rolling, we want to take a moment dedicated to all of you, as fans. When Dany Garcia was speaking on why they wanted to buy the league so badly, foremost in her mind was the special moments that the XFL created, and the passion of all the fans who kept showing up for their teams. This one’s for you all.

Honorable Mention – Broccoli Guy

Well, he made it to the XFL’s official website, so we gotta give this guy credit where it’s due. Jazz pattern tracksuits and your daily value of vitamins is an aesthetic, and the dude committed to it. I’d rank him up higher, but we’re gonna need to see some coordination from the Dragons fans next year. I’m talking the wave, with veggies. Lets get healthy up in here.

5. Fang Gang – Tampa Bay Vipers

Anyone who watched Dodgeball remembers the legendary Purple Cobras entrance. Well, the Tampa Bay crowds brought it to life, and I’ve never seen a group of strangers have so much fun together on live TV. Kudos to the Vipers fans for sticking out a rough couple of games to start the season, long enough to see Taylor Cornelius, Jacques Patrick, DeVeon Smith and Daniel Williams reverse their fortunes.

Hopefully we can get back to tailgating soon enough.

4. Beach Day in Houston

Ok, I get that the league was sponsered by Bud Light, but sometimes you just have to find your beach™. The Roughnecks fans did just that, and the endzones would blow up with a flurry of beach balls after yet another PJ Walker-Cam Phillips TD. You love to see it.

3. Birds of War – St Louis BattleHawks

I get that Ka-Kaw! is y’alls thing, and pounding seltzers at the tailgate was nearly the main event, but I died laughing when I saw Hawks fans dressed up like this. Yes they have feathers, but the muscles of men. The Birds of War took flight in St. Louis, and if you haven’t seen its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, go watch Season 5, Episode 7. Then watch the whole series.

You guys are awesome.

2. Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association – Dallas Renegades

The first time I saw the Renegades in person, I was awed to watch a fleet of bikes cruise across the field ahead of the team. Who needs fireworks when you’ve got these guys?

It’s an impressive display, and they really brought the outlaw country energy to Globe Life Park. Raise Hell.

1. The Beer Snake

We all knew it was coming. The legendary DC Beer Snake measured thousands of cups long, and I’m just impressed. Drunken coordination between this many people is no easy feat, but you did it, and this is your reward. A huge tab on your credit card in the morning is a small price to pay for an immortal legacy cemented in the halls of the XFL. Teamwork makes the dream work, bask in your glory.

We hope to see you all in the stands come spring, and until then, stay tuned for more here at XNH.

Did your city have a fan tradition that we didn’t catch here? Send it my way @Matt-Nagashima on twitter, or yell out your window very loudly. I have good ears.

Matt Nagashima has been covering the XFL since before the 2019 Draft, and has witnessed history being made as a Credentialed Reporter for the Dallas Renegades. While he is engrossed with the X's and O's, the roster building and more, it has always been his goal to keep the players first in mind in coverage, showing the human aspect of this sport behind all the action on the field. With Dany Garcia and Dwayne The Rock Johnson now at the helm, he's excited to see all the opportunities that this league will create for players to showcase their talent and make their dreams come true.

Still in awe of the snake, well done DC. A legend is born. Now the only thing we need is the rebirth of the Birmingham Iron, my favorite team “FORGE ON “
